Cape Town, 15 March 2011: It has been a glittering début year for the trendy Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Melrose Arch, which celebrates its first birthday this month. The edgy urban Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! concept was successfully exported from Cape Town to Johannesburg’s hottest lifestyle precinct, Melrose Arch, and the City of Gold has since embraced this glamorous hotel jewel as the place to stay and play.
“Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! is a brand that allows us to have a lot of fun in both the design as well as the service philosophy and offering to our GUESTS. At Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Melrose Arch the 1940s Hollywood theme created the perfect environment for massive, stylised gold chairs, chaise lounges that go on forever and amazing bold carpets that pop against the monochromatic backdrop,” said Danny Bryer, Sales, Marketing and Revenue Director of the Protea Hospitality Group. “Walking into the hotel is a sensory experience in the best possible way and it’s that glamorous excess that has made the hotel’s public spaces the place to be for celeb-spotting.
“Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! is an immensely successful 21st century hospitality concept that transcends the outdated notion of a hotel as simply a necessary bed. It is a brand that does the unexpected and isn’t afraid to stretch boundaries, yet embodies the Protea Hotel ethos of service excellence.”
The hotel is celebrating its birthday inviting in-house GUESTS to have breakfast in their pyjamas for the whole month of March. It has been a bumper year for this hotel, with highlights including the hosting of the US soccer family for the World Cup, the Coca-Cola trophy tour and numerous soccer supporters. Located in the trendy, upmarket Melrose Arch precinct, the hotel was part of the amazing soccer vibe that made 2010 such a memorable year.
Other exciting events that took place at the hotel included “all-white” pool parties with DJ Fresh and DJ Euphonic, the Deon Mass book launch and the launch of French singer Amaury Vassili's CD. The hotel partnered with Madame Zingara as well for the Theatre of Dreams Johannesburg run. The success of the hotel has allowed it to give back to the community. In the past year, it helped the Reach for a Dream Foundation fulfil the dreams of terminally ill children.
Bryer congratulated the hotel on its successful first year. “Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Melrose Arch has established itself as one of the group's premier hotels. It is contemporary, chic and well-placed for the discerning GUEST looking for a unique experience in one of Joburg's most popular precincts. With its premium location, sexy décor and top management TEAM, this hotel showcases the best that Protea Hotels has to offer.”
In the coming year the glamorous hotel will continue to host scintillating events, as well as welcome celebrities and GUESTS to enjoy the best of its superior service.
